Public Reading: Ça rime avec vinaigre
As part of Black History Month, TfT invites you to a public reading of Katia Café-Fébriss's play Ça rime avec vinaigre on Thursday, February 6. This event is free, but we ask you to register by clicking on the “buy tickets” button on the right of this screen.
Based in Toronto, Katia Café-Fébrissy is an independent producer, writer and director. She works in documentary film, fiction and television. For several years now, she has been developing her theatrical approach, and is currently involved in a number of stage projects.
Synopsis: A show about a mother's struggle to protect her 7-year-old son, who has been ostracized by his teacher following a playground altercation with his classmate. This incident triggers a series of events that go to the very top, testing Donny and his family's resilience in the face of months of injustice. Moving between home and school, the play links the intimate with the political. A slice of life told and interpreted by the author herself alongside Jenny Brizard who deliver a tumultuous, dizzying tale that oscillates between acting, slam and Ted-talk-style social commentary. Ça rime avec vinaigre is a “David-and-Goliathesque” true story that lifts the veil on the insidious nature of systemic anti-black racism in schools that still persists in our society.
The reading is followed by a reception and discussion with the artists.
