L’Amour telle une cathédrale ensevelie
The author and director Guy Régis Jr. continues his x-ray examination of dislocated Haitian families: those who seek a better future beyond the waves and prejudices. Those who respond to the call of the sea, to this thirst for a new life.
An opera/theatre/concert hybrid, L’Amour telle une cathédrale ensevelie tells the tragic tale of an ‘Intrepid Son’ who leaves Haiti to reunite with his mother in Quebec, that cold and unknown land.
With the Haitian classical guitarist Amos Coulanges, Guy Régis Jr composes an opera, a poetic song, in Creole and French. He sings the grief of these inescapable crossings, these maritime epics between Haiti and Canada, between Senegal and France. The choir members of Les Voix du Coeur Vocal Ensemble will showcase their talent and passion in this performance that combines theatre, music, and emotions.
