Appointment of Karine Ricard as Artistic Expert to the CITF
The Canada Council for the Arts is proud to announce the appointment of Karine Ricard as an artistic expert with the Commission internationale du théâtre francophone (CITF). The Government of Canada is a statutory member of the CITF, represented by Canadian Heritage-Canada Arts Presentation Fund and the Canada Council for the Arts.
Created in 1987, CITF's mission is to support multilateral projects for the creation and presentation of theatre productions within the Francophone space. This mission is achieved through artistic projects that reflect encounters and exchanges between artists from at least three countries on two continents. The French-speaking world is at the heart of these theatrical co-productions, which sometimes include other disciplines. Hundreds of artists have thus had the opportunity to meet, to compare and enrich their approaches, to discover other French-speaking cultures and to reach new audiences.
The CITF is based on the joint work of representatives of both the statutory and associate members and of artistic experts appointed by each member (statutory or associate). These experts, who come from the theatre world, are asked to fulfill a two-year term.
As an artistic expert, Karine will evaluate the applications submitted to the two regular programs, thus supporting co-productions and various other projects stemming from the Pépinière. Karine will work with an officer from the International Coordination and Partnerships team to evaluate these submissions. Her role will also be to suggest new directives for the development of North-South exchanges during the AGM.
Karine's mandate will be effective from June 3, 2023 until the end of the CITF AGM in 2025. The Canada Council for the Arts is confident that her expertise, motivation, and involvement will help promote the Canadian Francophonie on the national and international scene, as well as encourage the creation of North-South partnerships and exchanges.
The Canada Council for the Arts would like to congratulate Karine on her appointment and extend its warmest thanks to her.
