Théâtre français de Toronto is proud and pleased to present Les Liaisons dangereuses: correspondances inédites, a web series written by Sébastien Bertrand and directed by Karine Ricard, available for streaming directly from TfT's website starting June 15, 2022.

The series was produced by TfT in response to the constraints caused by the series of lockdowns and theatre closures. While government measures required the closure of cultural spaces, the film industry was able to continue its activities and projects provided it followed stringent security protocols. For TfT, the solution to this dilemma was clear. In order to continue to produce original work, provide work opportunities for local artists and serve its community, TfT quickly shifted toward audiovisual productions.

The company first produced Les Zinspiré.e.s: Flambant 9, directed by Francesca Barcenas. The 9th edition of the famous series of plays, written by teenagers from Southern Ontario, was exceptionally presented this season in the form of five short films.

While this first project was still in post-production, the pre-production of Les Liaisons dangereuses: correspondances inédites began. Written and imagined by Sébastien Bertrand, the series was primarily shot at the Windsor Arms Hotel in Toronto and at the Enoch Turner Schoolhouse Museum, from March 1 to 11, 2022 following weeks of preparations and rehearsals.

SYNOPSIS: In Correspondances inédites, Pierre Choderlos de Laclos (Mathieu Bourassa), the author of Les Liaisons dangereuses, comes into possession of new letters, previously hidden in a monastery, away from prying eyes. These letters reveal a whole new plot and shed new light on the schemes of Valmont (Philip Van Martin) and the Marquise de Merteuil (Caroline Raynaud), whose brazenness seems limitless.

This eight-episode web series is quite simply the most ambitious project ever undertaken by TfT. The series will remain available as a webcast until the summer of 2023.
