Ghislain Caron, recipient of Théâtre Action's Professional Sector Award
On Sunday, September 18, 2022, Ghislain Caron, TfT’s Executive Director and Co-General Manager, received the Prix du secteur professionnel (Professional Sector Award) from Théâtre Action. This award recognizes his long career in the cultural sector (spanning 30+ years) and his great contribution to the development of French-language theatre in Ontario. The award was presented at Place des arts du Grand Sudbury during Théâtre Action’s 50th anniversary celebrations. Théâtre Action is a Franco-Ontarian arts service organization that has been promoting theatrical practice since 1972.
About Ghislain Caron:
Administrative Director and Co-General Manager of Théâtre français de Toronto (TfT), Ghislain has been working for the company since 1989. He began his career at TfT as a box office manager and administrative assistant. In 1990, he became responsible for accounting and budget planning and also got involved in TfT’s marketing and fundraising duties. In 1999, he was promoted Administrative and Fundraising Director.
Ghislain's rigour and down-to-earth mindset have undoubtedly enabled TfT to standardize and maximize the company's administrative efficiency. In 2008, alongside Guy Mignault, he oversaw TfT's move to a more suitable downtown location that included not only new office spaces but also a costume workshop and a studio. Ghislain generously shares his expertise in the cultural sector. He is also the recipient of The Leonard McHardy & John Harvey Award for Outstanding Administrator 2011. Presented by The Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA), this award recognizes the excellence of a Toronto-based arts administrator who has been involved in the arts for more than ten years.
