Playing Soon: Cet été qui chantait
Toronto - Théâtre français de Toronto presents Cet été qui chantait, created by Marie-Ève Fontaine in coproduction with Théâtre Cercle Molière, and produced on tour by Flammèche Théâtre. This poetic, sensory show will be on at the Aki Studio from March 26 to 29.
SYNOPSIS: A crow, carried by the breeze, flies over the mountains, the valley and finally the river. Follow it as it guides you to the little house with the green shutters at the end of the road in Petite-Rivière-Saint-François. There you’ll find Gabrielle, with her bright eyes, observing all the life in this part of the country: the little hay dancing in the wind, the flowers abounding on a pile of manure, the white and black birds along the flats calling out at low tide, the fireflies whispering at nightfall.
Based on Gabrielle Roy's book of the same name, published in 1972, Cet été qui chantait is an invitation to a sensory voyage, where images and poetry intertwine. Marie-Ève Fontaine brings to life the enchanting universe of the great Franco-Manitoban author, using delicate puppet theatre. This show will appeal to dreamers and romantics alike, to lovers of literature and theatre, and to nostalgics in search of pure emotion. Cet été qui chantait is a suspended moment, a sensitive experience that speaks to the soul, whatever the age of the spectator.
