6 nominations for the 2018 Dora Awards!
Théâtre français de Toronto (TfT) is pleased and proud to announce 6 nominations for the 2017-2018 Dora-Mavor-Moore Awards.
- In the category Theater for Young Audiences, the show Les Zinspirés: Six Degrees of Separation (a TfT production directed by Chanda Gibson) collects 4 nominations for the following awards: Outstanding Production, Outstanding New Play, Outstanding Direction and Outstanding Perfomance – Ensemble.
- Also in the category Theater for Young Audiences, Countries Shaped Like Stars (a TfT – L’Irréductible Petit Peuple co-production directed by Joël Beddows) was nominated for the Outstanding Production Award.
- Melanie McNeill’s work on The Liar (a TfT production directed by Joël Beddows) was hailed with a nomination for the Outstanding Costume Design Award in the General Theater category.
TfT congratulates Théâtre La Tangente, whose production Americandream.ca has been nominated for the Outstanding Scenic Design Award in the General Theater category. This show, directed by Claude Guilmain, was presented at TfT last November.
The Dora-Mavor-Moore Awards are named after the great Toronto actress, a pioneer of Canadian theater and a benefactor of the arts. The event is organized by Toronto Alliance for Performing Arts (TAPA).
In the course of its history, the TfT has been rewarded with numerous nominations, especially for previous editions of les Zinspirés and has received Dora awards for Une soirée with Jacques Brel (1993), Le Malade imaginaire (1997), C’était un p’tit bonheur (1998), Est-ce qu’on ne pourrait pas s’aimer un peu ? (2005) and Les Zinspirés: Puissance 4 (2015).
The ceremony of the thirty-ninth edition of the Dora Mavor Moore Awards will occur on June 25 at the Winter Garden Theater.
